In southern Tanzania, on the northwest side of Selous game reserve, lie two small, quite offbeat national parks: Mikumi national park, Udzungwa, and Selous Game reserve. Mikumi is easily accessible by road, it supports a large number of elephants, giraffes, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, eland, impala, waterbuck, reedbuck, warthog, yellow baboon, lion, hyena, antelope, and many species.

Itinerary

Day 1:Dar es salaam to Mikumi np and Game drive

You will have picnic lunch on the way and the journey will take about 7hours through the most unexplored and untouched areas in Tanzania. The Mikumi flood plain is the main feature of the park along with the bordering mountain ranges. Animals commonly found here include lion, eland, hartebeest, buffalo, wildebeest, giraffe, zebra, hippo and elephant. The Mikumi elephants are mainly grazers and do not causes damage. To sleep inside the park will give you an opportunity of viewing animals all the time.
Dinner and overnight will be at Mikumi Park cottage inside the Park.

Day 2: Game drive then Udzungwa/Sanje waterfalls

Before breakfast at 6:00 am start a game drive at the park. Morning game viewing, this is the best time because most of the killings take place. Make a game drive up to 8:30 am then you will go for breakfast, after breakfast you will start a safari of 40 minutes to Udzungwa at sanje waterfall which is the highest Waterfall in Tanzania( 3.6 km distance) and you can Swim in the natural pool.
Upon arrival you will meet our guide/rangers who will accompany you on the hiking tour.
Udzungwa Mountains National Park is well known for its excellent hiking, trekking, mountain climbing, and forest walks. The most popular hiking tour is up to the Sanje waterfalls, looking for monkeys, swimming in plunge pools, and
enjoying the spectacular view while enjoying a picnic lunch. After your hiking tour you will descend the mountains and being back to Mikumi to have an accommodation at Camp.

Day 3:Mikumi to Selous game reserve/Nyerere national park

Before breakfast make a Maasai tour. After breakfast at 0830hrs drive to Selous Game Reserve, it take 7 to 8 hours. You will have picnic lunch on the journey you will see the most unexplored and untouched areas in Tanzania. Meals and overnight will be at African safari camp.

Day 4 :Full game drive in selous

The day will be spent on game viewing in the Game Reserve and at evening you will make a boat safari for 2 to 3 hours. The safari guide points out rare species of animals like the Wild Dogs. Sable antelopes, black rhinoceros, Nile Crocodile, hippopotamus along the banks of the Rufiji river, Cape buffalo, hartebeest and Eland. Picnic lunch and drinks will be served in the wilderness before heading back to camp for dinner and overnight to the gentle grunting of the Camp. Boat Safaris are also the best excursions for bird enthusiasts. The Selous has over 350 bird species, and the river is the place where they congregate in great numbers and are easily seen in the open environment.
You might also want to try your luck with the ferocious tiger fish, and weighty catfish that live in the waters in abundance. At evening you will make boat safari. Overnight is at African safari hotel.

Day 5 :Selous to Zanzibar by boat

Earl Morning breakfast at the camp and start a sunrise bush walking with a Bushman. Walking safaris are a fantastic way to get close to nature and learn more about the smaller species and the bush itself. It’s an unforgettable experience to walk within such a vast and untamed area of natural reserve. The walks take about 2-3 hours long. Usually walks leave camp at 6:00AM-6:30 AM after having a cup of tea and some home made biscuits or doughnut.
After breakfast with picnic lunch depart toward Dar es Salaam to catch the boat to Zanzibar. Arrive around 2pm at Dar es Salaam Ferry. Have your ticket. Arrive around 5pm in Zanzibar meet with your driver and transfer to Stone town where Azam luxury resort located( Hotel Verde Zanzibar). Hotel base on bed and breakfast. If you want to add more days in Zanzibar you are free, you will increase your budget.

Day 6:Relaxation and Prison Island

After breakfast at noon after lunch leave for Stone town in Zanzibar. You will be driving around city center with your guide driver. Learn more about the culture and historical of colonialism. Return to the hotel during evening for the drop off and relaxation.

7 Day :Transfer to airport

After breakfast meet with your guide and transfer to the airport or ferry depend on your departure.
