Chemonics International, a U.S. based international development consulting firm, is recruiting for various technical and program management positions¬†for the anticipated USAID-funded¬†Jifunze¬†Uelewe¬†activity in Tanzania.¬†This 5 year, $39 million project ‚ÄĮwill focus on¬†sustainably improving¬†literacy,¬†numeracy, and social-emotional¬†skills for all¬†¬†pre-primary and standard 1 ‚Äď 4 learners in target regions; strengthening¬†the capacity of local and regional government to sustain improved learning outcomes; and increasing¬†community support for safe and inclusive learning environments.¬†

Technical Positions:

  • Deputy Chief¬†of¬†Party¬†‚Äď Technical,
  • Teacher Professional Development¬†Lead Literacy Technical Lead,
  • Numeracy Technical Lead,¬†
  • Inclusion Specialist,
  • Pre-Primary Specialist,¬†
  • Community Engagement Lead, and
  • Regional Education Advisors¬†¬†


  • Advanced degree (Master’s level or equivalent) in‚ÄĮeducation¬†or¬†directly related¬†field;¬†
  • 10 years of‚ÄĮdemonstrated experience working in improving early grade¬†education¬†initiatives, including¬†designing¬†and implementing¬†pre-primary and primary literacy and numeracy¬†programs, curriculum development, and teacher professional development activities, particularly promoting gender equity¬†and social and emotional learning¬†
  • Experience supervising long-term¬†technical staff and¬†short-term¬†assignments;¬†
  • A strong understanding of monitoring, evaluation, and learning of education¬†projects;¬†
  • Strong understanding of the development and education issues in East Africa;‚ÄĮdemonstrated experience working in Iringa, Morogoro, Mtwara, Ruvuma, and/or Zanzibar¬†preferred;¬†
  • Familiarity with USAID tools and methodologies to improve education¬†outcomes;‚ÄĮ¬†
  • Fluency in spoken and written¬†English;‚ÄĮ¬†
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity.‚ÄĮ¬†

Program Management Positions:

  • Finance and Operations Manager;¬†
  • Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Specialist;¬†
  • Data Lead;
  • Grants Manager;¬†
  • Book Supply Chain Specialist¬†


  • A degree in an area of expertise relevant to the¬†position;¬†
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience;¬†experience on large, complex, donor-funded projects preferred¬†
  • Demonstrated experience in supervisory¬†positions;¬†
  • Experience with USAID programming, regulations,¬†and reporting¬†requirements;¬†
  • Strong working in in East Africa;‚ÄĮdemonstrated experience working in Iringa, Morogoro, Mtwara, Ruvuma, and/or Zanzibar¬†preferred;¬†
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with government officials, international donors, and private sector¬†stakeholders;¬†
  • Excellent written and oral communications¬†skills;¬†
  • Fluency in written and spoken English¬†required;¬†
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity.‚ÄĮ¬†
