Kenya Radio Station Fined USD 9000 After Blames Victims of Rape

One Kenya radio station has been fined one million shillings (US $ 9,000) after three station employees used radios to blame victims of rape.

The three men blamed the women for their actions, due to the extreme simplicity of men. This is the first fine since women in Kenya have called for the introduction of radio content regulations.

For three weeks now, Kenyan women have been posting their cries on social media demanding justice for women who have been raped and sexually abused.

They have been directing their anger at men who support sexual harassment and criticizing victims for such acts.

The source was an attack by two radio presenters and a DJ about a woman who had rejected a man and was later pushed from the 12th floor.

The 20-year-old woman has now been paralyzed as a result of the incident. The suspect has denied the charges against him and is now out on bail. The radio station fired the three workers.
