Premier League top 15 scorers 2022-23: the race for the Golden Boot

Premier League top 15 scorers 2022-23

1. Erling Haaland | Manchester City | 25 goals

A move to England for Erling Haaland always felt like being a matter of time, and Manchester City won that particular transfer lottery in 2022. The prolific Norwegian could be the bargain of the season at £51 million, with his track record suggesting that he will have rival defenders running scared.

2. Harry Kane | Tottenham | 17 goals

A man that already has three Golden Boots to his name, Tottenham frontman Harry Kane certainly knows his way to the back of the net. The England captain has a World Cup to think about this season, but he will not allow anything to distract him from the pursuit of more goals at club level.

3. Ivan Toney | Brentford | 14 goals

Having hit 33 goals when helping Brentford to promotion into the Premier League, Ivan Toney backed that return up with 14 efforts last season. The powerful Bees striker is a handful for any defender in the air and on the deck, while he is also more than useful at penalties

4. Aleksandar Mitrovic | Fulham | 11 goals

Fulham No.9 Aleksandar Mitrovic re-wrote Football League history books last season when hitting 43 goals. His record at the very highest level has been questioned during previous stints in the Premier League, but the Serbia international is determined to silence any doubters.

5. Marcus Rashford | Manchester United | 12 goals

Marcus Rashford endured a disappointing season in 2021-22, with only five goals recorded in all competitions, and he is looking to rediscover a spark. Regular outings as a central striker for Manchester United should aid that cause.

6. Rodrigo | Leeds | 10 goals

Spain international Rodrigo is yet to repay the sizeable show of faith made in him by Leeds, with only 13 goals recorded across two seasons at Elland Road. He is, however, a capable marksman and his work rate often helps others to flourish around him.

7. Miguel Almiron | Newcastle | 10 goals

Paraguyan attacker Miguel Almiron has undergone a renaissance since Eddie Howe was appointed last season. He has become an importnat part of the Newcastle side that has only lost one game so far this season, as well as making a mockery of Jack Grealish’s derogatory jibe in Man City’s title celebrations last term.

8. James Maddison | Leicester | 9 goals

James Maddison appears to have slipped down the playmaking pecking order for England, but the Leicester talisman could still force his way into that picture before the 2022 World Cup. He remains a key man for the Foxes due to his passing ability and skill over set-pieces.

9. Martin Odegaard | Arsenal | 8 goals

Martin Odegaard has taken on the captaincy at Arsenal in 2022-23, with a midfielder that already occupies the armband with Norway now an on-field leader for club and country. He will be looking to lead by example for the Gunners, with a goal threat posed from late runs into the box, long-range strikes and set-pieces.

10. Harvey Barnes | Leicester | 8 goals

Amidst Leicester City’s dismal start to the season, winger Harvey Barnes has been a bright spot. Barnes has started the season on top form and will look to improve his performances from the previous two seasons. Leicester will be hoping Barnes remains injury-free and consistent to get them out of their current rut.

11. Leandro Trossard | Brighton/Arsenal | 8 goals

Belgian forward Leandro Trossard has been a consistent performer for Brighton across his time in England. He can always be relied upon to chip in with a useful tally of goals.

12. Mohamed Salah | Liverpool | 8 goals

Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah secured himself a third Golden Boot last season – a second that has been shared with others – and more of the same is expected from him this term. With a new contract under his belt, the Egyptian forward appears set to remain the King of Anfield.

13. Bukayo Saka | Arsenal | 7 goals

Bukaryo Saka seems to be hitting form in front of goal now. The England international has four goals and four assists to his name after 10 Premier League games.

14. Phil Foden | Manchester City | 7 goals

Manchester City star Phil Foden appeared in 28 Premier League matches last season where he scored three goals. The English international will hope to better his goal-scoring record this time around.

15. Gabriel Martinelli | Arsenal | 7 goals

Gabriel Martinelli has been patiently waiting on an opportunity to prove his worth at Arsenal after bursting onto the scene back in 2019-20. The Brazil international boasts quick feet and a keen eye for goal that should stand him in good stead now that regular game time is being enjoyed.
