The goal was to qualify abroad… As the team left for Benin for our fifth African Confederation Cup group stage match against ASEC Mimosas, we were aiming to qualify for the quarter-finals away to make history although it failed.
The statement was made by the club’s Information and Communication Manager, Ahmed Ally after arriving at Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Airport from Benin where he stressed we will make good use of the home stadium to ensure we win the next match.
Ahmed said we need any victory against the US Gendarmerie in our final match against Benjamin Mkapa on April 3 at 1pm to qualify for the quarter-finals of the tournament regardless of the outcome of the RS Berkane match against ASEC.
Ahmed urged fans to turn out in large numbers on the field that day to support the team to help reach the quarter-finals where he said we have submitted an application to the CAF to allow a maximum of 35,000 on a regular basis.
“We lost the game but we did not lose the goal of reaching the quarter-finals. Initially we planned to qualify while away and set history but failed, we are back home to prepare for the final game against Gendarmerie.

“We have our own ticket to the quarter-finals, we just need to win our game without looking at the results of the other matches which is why I urge fans to show up in large numbers on April 3 for Mkapa to support their team,” said Ahmed.
