The Government is satisfied with Speed Bunju health center Construction. Principal Secretary Office of the President Regional Administration and Local Government Engineer Joseph Nyamhanga has instructed Kinondoni Municipal Council to complete the expansion of Bunju Dispensary which has been upgraded to a Health Center by September 20, 2020 so that it can start providing services to the people.
He said this today during a working visit to review the progress of projects being implemented in Kinondoni Municipal Council, Dar-Es Salaam.
Inspecting the construction, Engineer Nyamhanga said the Government has provided 600 million shillings for the expansion of the dispensary to upgrade it and become a health center with the aim of reducing congestion at Mwananyamala Hospital.
“There has been a lot of congestion at Mwananyamala Hospital, seeing that the government decided to upgrade the Bunju dispensary to a health center, so the council has a responsibility to ensure they fully manage the construction so that it can be completed on time and start providing services to the community,” said Engineer Nyamhanga.
He said that the clinic currently serves 65,000 people so it was upgraded that the health center will be able to provide services to more than 100,000 people in Bunju ward, and surrounding areas and improve health services closer to the people.
Engineer Nyamhanga clarifies that the Government has invested in infrastructure to provide health care, so it is the responsibility of health professionals to ensure that they provide quality services to the community to reduce complaints.
And the Chief Medical Officer of Dar-es-salaam Dr. Rashid Mfaume said the completion of the center will help reduce congestion at Mwananyamala Hospital where currently many residents of the area are following services at the hospital.
Dr. Mfaume said the center will be able to help people in the surrounding areas to come and get services and reduce the suffering of people to walk long distances to seek services in referral hospitals.
He mentioned the buildings being built as a radiation building, a Mother and Child building, a laboratory, a surgery building and a mortuary where the facility will be able to provide emergency surgery and increase revenue for the center.
In addition, during his visit to Kinondoni Municipal Council, Dar-es-salaam, Engineer Nyamhanga inspected the construction of classrooms at Ndumbwi Primary School, and Ndumbwi Dispensary which has also been upgraded to a health center.
It should be noted that in the past five years under the leadership of the President of the United Republic of Tanzania Hon. John Pombe Magufuli the Government has built 99 Council Hospitals, 487 health centers and 1, 198 dispensaries with the aim of improving health care delivery infrastructure in the country.
